Join SRJO as we kick off our 30th Anniversary season with a weekend of concerts at Benaroya Hall, featuring the exotic and fascinating “Far East Suite” by Duke Ellington.
With these two concerts, SRJO takes part in a momentous year of celebrations by music ensembles around the globe, commemorating the 125th anniversary of Ellington’s birth by playing his greatest works.
Selections include “Mount Harissa” (featuring tenor saxophonist Mark Taylor), “Blue Peppter” and Billy Strayhorn’s sultry ballad “Isfahan.”
Vocalist Jacqueline Tabor also joins SRJO to sing Juan Tizol’s “Caravan” in the 1957 version recorded by Ella Fitzgerald with the Duke Ellington Orchestra (transcribed by Michael Brockman.)
Tickets $60 and student tickets available for $15
