Darren Motamedy

The words “crowd favorite” have never been more true as it relates to Darren Motamedy (www.darrenmotamedy.com).  The saxophonist, composer and teacher has built a solid career in all three areas.  Originally from Kent, WA, Motamedy taught in the middle school music curriculums in the Kent school districts for 25 years, reaping awards such as the 2008 Kent School District Teacher of the Year and the 2009 Golden Apple Award honoring the top Washington State teachers.  It’s debatable whose love was greater – the kids’ love for their teacher or Motamedy’s love for his students.  His move to Las Vegas 14 years ago continued his music mentoring career, culminating in the Heart of Education Award for teachers who go above and beyond in the Clark County School system.  Performing tugs at his heart, though, as he has enjoyed an immensely popular 40+ year career.  He has released 15 albums since 1989 with many of them rising high on the music charts.  He has also appeared with a who’s who of artists over his career and is beloved for his full-throated tenor sax tone and lyrical melodic style.  Appearing with Motamedy for his Jazz LIVE at Marine View performance will be his full band made up of Osama Afifi on bass, Akim Finch on percussion, Dave Austin on drums, Frank Seeberger on guitar and Reshard Radford on keyboards.  Don’t miss a fabulous performance in the beautiful confines of Marine View.
