Cliff Colon’s Jazz ensemble “Velocity” plays Jazz Fusion. Jazz “Fusion” is electric Jazz that is a combination of Jazz, Funk and Rock. The music Velocity plays is very virtuosic and complex and uses a lot of odd time signatures but it also really “grooves”! Popular “fusion” bands from the past were Return to Forever, Weather Report, Mahavishnu Orchestra and The Headhunters. Jazz fusion is not to be confused with “Smooth Jazz”. Fusion is typically more aggressive than most smooth Jazz. Velocity is a very popular local Jazz ensemble! This will be fun!
