Earshot 25 is shaping up to be Seattle’s deepest, widest, and, as many of you already know, finest jazz festival ever. The concerts have been spectacular, with virtually every day bringing an engaging new perspective on what seems at the moment to be the world’s most vibrant art form. This festival is one for the ages!
Jazz has been referred to as, “the sound of surprise.” This fall in Seattle, it’s showing itself to be a lovable trickster indeed. While part of the jazz industry bemoans diminishing audience participation, the music itself seems to be almost boundless with enthusiasm for the future. Whether pushing against the walls of “standard” small and large ensemble configurations, or exploring possibilities for new instrumentation and narratives, the music we’ve seen and heard this fall is fresh, beautifully played, and absolutely relevant. It also points to an unlimited potential for the years ahead.
In warm concert halls, with audiences on their feet cheering for amazing concerts by national and Seattle artists, we welcome the feeling that Earshot Jazz is truly living its mission as a non-profit organization dedicated to the support of jazz in Seattle. We’re happy to toot our own horn for this festival, and we’re grateful for your participation.
Please consider supporting us financially. Our 25 for 25 fundraising campaign has set an ambitious goal of raising $25,000 in honor of our 25th Anniversary Festival. The Earshot organization has given incredible, one-of-a-kind programming and services to this community for years. We ask you to make a gift back to Earshot Jazz in support of our new education initiatives, and services to Seattle artists and audiences. The gift that fits your budget is the perfect gift for us. See www.earshot.org for details. And thank you!
